Preserving & Enjoying Jordan's Nature Heritage:

Jordan's biodiversity is an add-on to Jordan's beauty. However, many species are in danger of extinction. The Royal Society for the Conservation of Nature (RSCN) through its series of managed nature reserves brings its motto "HELPING NATURE HELPING PEOPLE" to life.

In fact, PETRA MOON is the leading tour operator in Jordan in partnership with RSCN. We can help you arrange a variety of adventure programs, educational tours and handicraft workshops available in the reserves, including: Dhana Nature Reserve, Azraq Wetlands Reserve, Shumari Wildlife Refuge, Wadi Mujib Reserve, Ajlun Reserve, Wadi Rum Protected Area, and Dibeen Forest. Bird Watching in Jordan:

The geographical diversity of Jordan gives birds lots of choices on habitats; open desert and wadis, pine and oak forests of the hills and the sub-tropical Jordan Valley attract wide varieties of immigrant species as well as the resident ones.

Some of the birds that can be seen in Jordan include: the Sinai rose finch (Jordan's national bird) fan-tailed raven, Bonillo's eagle, griffon vulture, spectacled warbler, Palestine sunbird, hoopoe lark, trumpeter finch and many others. TOP

Flora of Jordan:

Jordan is rich in a widely diverse flora; there are some of 2,500 species, many of which are considered rare or endangered. Jordan's flora includes lots of medicinal and aromatic plants which have given them an important value through history.

If you pick the right season, mid March through end of May, you would see a large variety of wild flowers and plants, such as the black iris (Jordan's national flower), windflowers, wild lily and others.

Jordan's flora also includes some other species such as: the red Mediterranean juniper, pistacia atlantica, ratam, artemisia and oleander. TOP

Geological Strata and the Great Rift Valley:

Jordan can be divided into 5 regions, based on its underlying geology: limestone with flint in the highlands and interior deserts, sandstone hills in the Rift Margins and Wadi Rum area, ancient basement rocks behind Aqaba, basalt desert in the north-east and the Rift Valley, along Jordan's western border.

This variety of geological strata results in the diversity of the Flora and Fauna of Jordan. It also gives Jordan an amazing range of scenary. TOP

Red Sea Diving Package:

The clear  water and rainbow-hued coral reefs make diving in the Red Sea a great experience. Diving sites in Aqaba have an easy shore entry and exit. The fringing reefs are close to the shore, which makes it ideal for snorkeling as well.

You can do some diving courses such as: PADI Open-Water Course, PADI Advanced Open-Water Course, and PADI Specialty Courses. TOP
