Weekdays noted are applicable except for our special Christmas and New Year itineraries which vary slightly.

• Tuesday—Meet/assist at the Aqaba port** or land border.  Travel up Wadi Araba, route of the ancient spice caravans, to a resort hotel on the shores of the Dead Sea, lowest point on the earth’s surface, to enjoy day use facilities and lunch.  [NB:  For those who want to start this program with arrival through Amman’s Queen Alia airport, we will meet you at the airport and provide a transfer down to the Dead Sea to join up with your fellow travelers].  The Dead Sea has a mineral content ten times that of the Earth’s oceans—it’s a guaranteed “uplifting” experience!  In the afternoon visit Mt. Nebo, the site from which Moses viewed the Promised Land.  Spend the night in Madaba, home to the world’s largest collection of ancient mosaics, with free time to visit the sites or browse through the bustling souks.  Overnight Madaba.  [BL]
• Wednesday—Free morning to explore the mosaics and town of Madaba.  Mid-morning departure to Petra for check-in.  Tonight you'll join the “Petra by Night” candlelight walk for a romantic first glimpse of Petra's Siq and Treasury.  [B]
• Thursday—Set of for a full day touring in Petra, including horseback entry, visits to the Treasury, Theater, Colonnaded Street and ad-Deir, Petra's largest carved facade.   In the evening, join the fun at the Petra Kitchen as you learn to cook a traditional local meal.  Overnight Petra.  [BD]
• Friday-- Morning return to Petra by the "secret road" route.  Visit the High Place of Sacrifice, Wadi Farasa and the Royal Tombs. Afternoon transfer to Wadi Rum for a jeep tour of the moonscape terrain.  Dinner and overnight camping in the heart of the desert.  [BD] 
• Saturday—Transfer to Aqaba for your departure via the Aqaba port or land border.  [B]  Or customize your program by adding on one or more of the "Sensation Amplification" extensions outlined below!

 

 

**Note:  If you are coming from the Sinai, we can arrange your return travel on the Taba-Aqaba ferry.  Because of travel restrictions applicable to this ferry crossing, we must have full passport information in advance, and you must be returning to Taba by the same route at the end of the program.  One-way crossings are not permitted on this ferry service.  The supplemental charge for round-trip ferry service is $115/person including harbor fees but exclusive of visa and exit taxes.

 4 Day/3 Night "Sensation Amplification" options

• Red Sea Amplifier-- Begin or end your Desert Delights tour with three nights at leisure in the Red Sea resort of Aqaba.  Snorkeling or diving along the coral reefs, a glass-bottom boat or “semi-submarine” cruise in the Aqaba harbor or just relaxing on the beach…a splendid way to round out your holiday.  
• Dead Sea Amplifier--Indulge your senses with three nights at a 5* resort hotel on the Dead Sea.  You can add this option either before or after the Desert Delights program.
• Damascus Amplifier—As preface to  your Desert Delights program, spend three nights (Friday-Sunday) in Damascus, arguably the world's oldest city and unquestionably one of the most fascinating.  Depart from Jordan to Damascus on Friday afternoon for a tour which includes a full-day guided tour of Damascus including the Omayyad Mosque, National Museum, Straight Street, Ananias Church, the Azem Palace and the Hammadieh Souk.  You'll also try an authentic Turkish Bath, and may choose to sign up for an excursion to Palmyra or Krak des Chevaliers.  On Sunday, you'll visit the ancient city of Bosra before returning to Jordan, or we can arrange for a few extra nights in Damascus before your return to Jordan to begin your Desert Delights tour on Tuesday 
• Jerusalem Amplifier—Before or after your Desert Delights Tour, cross the King Hussein/Allenby Bridge to Jerusalem early Saturday for three nights just outside the walls of the Old City.  You'll have a free day (Saturday) to explore the narrow cobbled streets on your own, and then you'll join your guide on Sunday  to visit to Bethlehem and Jerusalem.  Mondays your tour will include Nazareth, Capernaum, the Mount of the Beatitudes and the Sea of Galilee.  Tuesday morning, return to Jordan either to begin your Desert Delights tour at the Dead Sea, or to make your departure connection (mid-day departure or later).
